How our solution works
We've developed a solution to turn demolition concrete into a carbon sink. With over 1 billion tons per year, it's the world's largest waste stream. Our process captures and mineralizes CO₂ in demolished concrete, storing it permanently and removing it from the atmosphere.

To source the CO₂, we collaborate with biogas plants that employ biogas upgrading to separate CO₂ from methane. Using our technology installed at the plant, we capture and liquefy the highly pure CO₂ offgas.
Transport
We transport it to nearby sites where we sink the CO₂. Partnering with construction recyclers, we implement our mineralization technology at their plants. Here, we inject the CO₂ into finely crushed demolition concrete granules.
Store
Our technology triggers an accelerated mineralization process, converting the CO₂ into limestone, which binds to the pores and surface of the demolition concrete granules. This occurs concurrently with the recycler's existing process of repurposing demolition waste for street construction or producing fresh recycled concrete.
Remove
And there you have it: the CO₂ is stored permanently, virtually eliminating the risk of reversal. We've successfully removed CO₂ that would otherwise have been released into the atmosphere. Moreover, since the CO₂ we captured is biogenic in nature, we generate negative emissions.

CDR, or carbon dioxide removal, is the extraction of CO2 from the air and storing it in natural sinks or using it for permanent storage elsewhere.
The amount of CDR we will need depends on our choices: how much we choose to limit the rise in global temperature, how much we choose to reduce emissions, and in which timeframe.
There are a number of carbon removal or negative emissions technologies (NET) that can use biological or technological approaches to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere and store it on a more or less permanent basis.
Current research shows that there is no single solution that could be deployed at scale to remove hundreds of gigatons of CO₂ from the atmosphere by the end of this century.
